Manhattan Tower

The project :

The managers of the Manhattan Tower at La Défense called on Plafometal to renovate the ceilings on one of the floors of a high-rise building.

In terms of products, we had to propose a solution that looked as closely as possible like the old version: ceilings clipped onto concealed grids.

The customer's needs :

  • Refurbishment of one floor

  • Products identical to the preceding ones

  • Tight deadline

Our answer :

Plafometal proposed to install Monobac metal tiles clipped underneath a concealed grid on the floor of office space.

The panels were designed and made to measure for the project. All the panels were of the same dimensions and were ordered all at once in order to optimize the production lead time and meet the deadline. For the esthetic appearance, trapezoidal connecting strips were added to the Monobac tiles to create a rotational effect and follow the curved shape of the building.

PM8 self-supporting panels with 1/2h fire resistance were proposed for the corridors and elevator access in order to meet the fire regulations applying to highrise buildings.

Monobac Metal Tiles

All the Monobac metal tiles installed in the Manhattan Tower are of the same dimensions and were made to measure for this project. They use a suspension system that clips onto the concealed grids. The acoustic absorption of these metal tiles is as high as 1, which is the optimal acoustic absorption index value.

Product Benefits:

  • Ceiling with a monolithic appearance.

  • Secure access to the plenum, requiring use of a disassembly tool.

Fire-Resistant PM8 Self-Supporting Panels

Fire resistance of 1/4h is required in the common corridors of high-rise buildings.
This is the reason why the corridors and elevator access ways were equipped with PM8 self-supporting panels with a fire resistance of 1/2h.
Their installation on wall profiles, without an intermediate grid, is easier.

Product Benefits:

  • Fire-resistant 1/2h.

  • Panel lengths are flexible and can be easily adapted to the building needs.

  • The panels can be equipped with folded ends for greater lateral rigidity.

  • They can be easily removed by simply lifting for access to the complete plenum.
